Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts!
In English we work collaboratively and cooperatively in groups as well as individuals to strengthen reading comprehension and writing skills. I follow the NPS 7th grade English curriculum that is matched to the Oklahoma PASS standards. In addition I have a set of long-range instructional and behavioral goals for all of my students and they are:
Every student will be able to:
- work collaboratively and cooperatively in groups.
- share constructive peer critiques as well as receive them.
- be able to receive feedback from the teacher without whining and complaining.
- take an active roll in their education.
- respect the learning environment of the classroom and everyone in the room.
We will read two novels this year, "The Watsons Go to Birmingham", and "The Giver". In addition we will complete two book reports; one on a fiction book of your choice and the second will be in our liteterature circles.
